Dr. Oviawe’s extensive work and consulting experiences cut across four continents.
Oviawe was the Executive Chairperson of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and prior to her appointment as Commissioner of Education, She led widespread reforms in the basic education sub-sector at SUBEB under the EdoBEST framework (Edo Basic Education Sector Transformation).
She founded the Comparative and International Education Society’s Africa Special Interest Group (ASIG), a thriving research and practice network of academics, practitioners, policymakers, and graduate students from over 20 countries.
Oviawe is a member of the World Congress of Comparative Education Societies’ Working Group on Global e-Learning.
Dr. Oviawe has participated in several global discussions and e-forums on women sponsored by multilateral institutions such as the World Bank, UNESCO, UN Women and UNDP.
As the Honorable Commissioner of Education in Edo State, she leads a forward-thinking sector-wide education reform programme known as EdoBEST 2.0
